Arab Summit rejects economic sanctions against Syria
Syria-Regional, Politics, 5/24/2004
The Arab Summit has adopted a consensus decision that rejects the US unilateral economic sanctions imposed on Syria.
The decision described the so-called Syria Accountability Act as a violation of the international law and the UN resolutions.
The decision reiterated the Arab states' solidarity with Syria's stance and appreciated her stance which calls for adopting the language of dialogue as a means for understanding and a way for solving disputes among nations.
The decision called on the U.S. to open a constructive dialogue with Syria in order to settle obstacles that hinder improving the bilateral relations.
The Arab summit called on the U.S. to reconsider this law which constitutes a flagrant bias to Israel and wastes all chances to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region.
The Arab Summit stressed solidarity with Lebanon in facing attempts of targeting the Syrian-Lebanese historical fraternal ties stressing refusal of any foreign interference in Lebanon's internal affairs under the pretext of the so-called Syria Accountability Act or any other projects.
