Arab summit adopts the two documents on oath and reforms

The secretary general of the Arab league Amr Moussa announced that the Arab leaders who concluded yesterday in Tunisia works of the Arab summit adopted the document of oath, reconciliation and Arab solidarity which pertains to joint Arab action.
According to the document, the Arab leaders renew their commitment to the Arab League charter and implementation of resolutions taken within its contest, proposed by Saudi Arabia and states to abide by boosting joint Arab action in all fields and reform the work mechanism of the Arab league.
The leaders in the document abide by developing specialized Arab and regional commission and its work plans programs in order to ensure performing its role according to the requirements and needs of the Arab states.
The document states to support consultations, coordination and cooperation among the member states in the areas of security, defense and foreign affairs of joint interests and completing the realization if the Greater Arab Free trade Zone, founding an Arab customs federation in contributing to achieving Arab economic integration.
As for the Arab- Israeli conflict, the document stresses the cling of the Arabs to the Arab peace initiative which was adopted at Beirut's summit in 2002, which calls for the foundation of an independent Palestinian sovereign state with Jerusalem as a capital on the land of occupied Palestine of 1967 and attaining a just solution for the question of the Palestinian refugees according to the resolution of the UN general assembly no. 194 for 1948 and ensuring rejection of all forms of settling the Palestinians in the Arab states.
The work document stresses also the realization of complete Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Arab lands including the Golan, and the occupied lands in south Lebanon. The document stressed support for the United Arab Emirates to restore back its occupied islands, and strengthening collective decisions to settle inter- Arab disputes by peaceful means.
As for reforms and development, it was decided to settle all conflicts in the region as a precondition for comprehensive reform and deepening the bases of democracy and Shoura, empowering the role of woman and childhood and continued economic reforms to improve living standards and reactivate the role of the private sector and work for accelerating the role of the private sector and work to accelerate the completion of a common Arab market. It was also decided to draw a comprehensive Arab strategy for economic, social, and cultural development and modernize the social structure of the Arab states.
The Tunisian President Zine al-Abidin Ben Ali announced the closing of the summit and expressed his satisfaction over the spirit of understanding and closeness prevailed the discussions and his confirmation to proceed forward into revitalizing common Arab action and withstanding challenges facing the Arab nation.
Ben Ali said that Tunisia's document is a message of peace for the Arab group. It is a strategic option for the Arab nation. He stressed Tunisia's commitment during the phase of assuming the presidency of the summit to tighten coordination with the Arab states in order to revitalize the summit's resolutions, foremost being the question of Palestine and work to invest more support for restoring the Palestinian rights and intensify efforts for the Iraqi people to restore back their sovereignty.
