GCC secretary general describes US sanctions on Syria as unacceptable

Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council GCC Abdulrahman al-Atyah underlined that the American decision to impose sanctions on Syria is unacceptable and contradicts with Arab states' desire for achieving stability and security in the region.
"Syria is one of the political stability pillars in the region, and we should support it," Atyah said in a statement to Kuwaiti ' al-Anbaa' newspaper published Friday. He also reiterated the GCC' s call for dialogue between Syria and the United States to resolve all pending issues.
