Demonstrations deploring destruction of Rafah, occupation threatens

Some 1000 Israelis who support peace and members of the Arab- Jewish coexistence movement as well as several Arab members in the Israeli Knesset demonstrated yesterday at Kesovim settlement to the east of Khan Younis to the south of Gaza.

The demonstrators chanted slogans calling for halting the Israeli military operation in Rafah and the withdrawal from the Arab territories which was occupied in 1967. The demonstrators clashed with the Israeli occupation forces at the crossing.

Hundreds of Palestinian took the streets in Gaza after "prayers of the absent" on the souls of Palestinians who were killed in Rafah in a demonstration which took the streets of Jabalia camp. Hamas movement called for the demonstration in solidarity with the people of Rafah and in denunciation of the Israeli military operations and the Arab and international silence on the killing, destruction and besiege in various areas of Rafah.

In Lebanon demonstrations took place in the Palestinian refugees camps in protest of Israel's killing of 56 Palestinians in a destruction operation of Rafah in an operation called by the Israelis " Rainbow" operation during the three past days.

In Ein al-Helweh camp more than 3000 demonstrators including hundreds of children carrying white coffins in solidarity with the Palestinian children demonstrated and a similar demonstration was organized in al-Bass and al-Rashedeyah camps south Lebanon and in al-Baddawi camp in the north.

In Amman hundreds of Jordanians called in a demonstration following Friday's prayers to open the border and announce Jihad against the Israelis. The chairman of the coordination committee for the Jordanian opposition parties Hamza Mansour said that what the Palestinians in Gaza are exposed to is a " war of extermination at the hands of the criminal the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon."
