Continued clashes in Najaf, Karbala

News reports in Najaf said that violent confrontations erupted between the American occupation forces and members of al-Mahdi army which belongs to the Shiite Clergy Muqtada al-Sader. The news reports said that the clashes took place in the area situated between " 20th revolution" and Wadi al-Salam cemetery at the northern entrance of the city.

News reports said that members of al-Mahdi army fired RPG shelling and automatic machine guns and pilot-less planes flew over the sight of the clashes.

Clashes also renewed in Karbala between the occupation forces and supporters of Muqtada al-Sader. News reports said that the camp which leads to Imam al-Hussein tomb on the down town of the city witnessed clashes between the two sides. The governorate building where the American forces are stationed was exposed to mortars shelling.

A medical source in al-Hussein general hospital said that the number of the confrontations victims yesterday reached 8 killing and 16 wounding. The source explained that members of al-Mahdi army refuse to receive medical treatment at the government hospital of fears that the American forces will break into it.
