A seminar by Syrian opposition in London

The seminar on dialogue on the future of national work in Syria issued a statement on the occasion of concluding a meeting held in London on Sunday, in which it stressed that "honest opposition refused to be empowered against the homeland by the foreigner." It called for lifting the state of emergency and building the country of peaceful transfer of rotating authority.

According to the statement, groups of the Syrian national forces met at the invitation of the national document committee on Saturday and Sunday. This was the second meeting of its kind following the meeting which was held in August 2002. The meeting included several members of the Muslim Brothers group, leftist opposition and liberals.

The statement called for the release of all political detainees and to release the detainees of al-Qamishli incidents and open honest and transparent investigations and punishing those who are responsible for killing and destruction. The statement deplored all forms of " repressive practices" on the Kurds including their right to have the Syrian nationality. They also stressed the need of the Syrian society and solidarity among its people and the Arab- Kurdish brotherhood.

The statement also stressed the need of lifting the state of emergency and canceling emergency laws and rules and equality among citizens and honoring human rights. It stressed efforts to build a multilateral democratic Syria based on institutions and peaceful rotating of the authority. It called for the abrogation of law no. 49 of 1980 provides for executing every and each one member in the Muslim Brothers group.
