Burns for continued development of relations with Syria
Syria-USA, Politics, 5/18/2004

US Assistant Secretary for Near East Affairs William Burns on Monday said that the American administration is keen on the continuation of developing relations with Syria to get the correct ties in the future.

He stressed that imposing sanctions on Syria did not mean to cut communication between the two countries.

In a statement on the margin of the World Economic Forum meeting published by Jordanian newspaper " Al-Rae," Burns added that the American administration and the Senate are concerned to open contact channels with Syria.

He pointed out to the American wish of building a base for cooperation with Syria over some issues such as Iraq.
