Syrian Official Source at the Interior Ministry interviews Mezza Incident chief executor

An official source at the Syrian Ministry of Interior said Saturday in a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the authorities concerned at the Interior Ministry ended their investigations into the criminal sabotage act which took place on the evening of 27 April in al-Mezza neighborhood, west of Damascus.

The source added that an isolated extremist fundamentalist group of four Syrians attacked a building used to be a UN headquarters in al-Mezza neighborhood where security men confronted them, arrested two of the criminals called Ahmad Shlash Hassan and Izzo Hussein al-Hussein and killed the two others called Ayman Shlash Hassan and Mohammad Hussein al-Nahar.

The source said that a woman passerby was killed and another woman was injured in the scene. A policeman was also killed, and two other policemen were wounded.

The investigations revealed that two other Syrians called Azaam al-Nahar and Abdul Basset Hassida were linked to this group. The two men helped and prepared for this criminal act.

The investigations also revealed that this group had planted an explosive device at the building of the Financial Affairs Directorate at Quneitra Governorate on the same day, setting the building to fire in order to cover up the robbery of the building committed by Ayman Shlash Hassan who stole more than 10 million Syrian pounds from the Directorate.

The official source stressed that security men raided two arms caches in Khan al-Sheih and Muaddamieh in Damascus Countryside Governorate where they seized large amounts of smuggled arms and explosives.

The source pointed out that the perpetrators and the collaborators were sent to the judiciary circles concerned to be brought to justice.

The Syrian Arab Television broadcasted on its land and satellite channels the findings of the investigations on the criminal act Saturday evening after the main News Bulletin at 08: 30 Damascus local time and the engineer of the operation ( a veterinary doctor) admitted all detailed stated by the Syrian official source.
