Libya denies targeting Syria in its decision: a country threatened to be crashed by Israel
Libya-Syria, Politics, 5/15/2004
Libya refuted yesterday the US under secretary of state for disarmament John Bolton who considered that its decision to halt purchase of weapons from " any country considered a source for the dissemination of weapons of mass destruction," to be targeting Syria, Iran and southern Korea and stressed that " Libya can not assess that Syria has a weapons of mass destruction because Syria is a peaceful country and its lands are occupied and is threatened to be crashed by Israel."
The official statement which was stated by the Libyan decision did not specify these countries, in contrary to what Bolton had announced. Yesterday the Libyan foreign minister reiterated that the " statement was clear and did not mention any country by name and does not mean Syria, and Libya will never assess that Syria has weapons of mass destruction because it is a peaceful country, its lands are occupied and is threatened to be crashed by Israel."
The statement added " if what was stated by the statement is entitled to any side, then why it is not applicable to Israel which owns Weapons of mass destruction and constitutes a danger on the region, the world and gets the American protection."
