Sherif: Egyptian women becoming more empowered under Mubarak

Secretary General of the National Democratic Party and Information Minister Safwat El Sherif said a great development was achieved as regards women's getting the same rights as men during the era of President Hosni Mubarak, citing establishment of the National Council for Women (NCW).
In statements during a ceremony marking honoring six women of voluntary work pioneers, Sherif said women represent half of the society and they should be treated as equals to men as regards rights and duties.
