Mrs. Asmaa al-Assad meets with the delegation of the Arab- American Antidiscrimination committee

Syria's First Lady, Asmaa al-Assad, has met with the delegation representing the Arab- American Antidiscrimination Committee ADC. Discussions during the meeting dealt with means of enhancing contacts, meetings and relations between the Arabs and the Americans and ways and methods of dealing with Arab sides concerned to further accelerate interaction between the Arab and American people.

During the meeting Mrs. Asmaa al-Assad stressed the need that Arab communities in the West to play the role of ambassadors for their country, thanks to their bilateral Arabic and western cultures, to get the west to know about the cultures of their home countries and civilizations of their peoples.

The nine- women delegation met during its visit to Syria with several Syrian women officials including the minister of the expatriates Butheina Shaaban, the Minister of social affairs and Labor Siham Dillo; chairperson of the foreign media department Bushra Kanafani, the chairperson of the Syrian Women Union as well as the US ambassador in Damascus.

This is, however, the first visit of its kind. It falls in the context of the ADC activities to supporting human rights and foster relations between the Arab and American people through the Arab community in the USA, being the representatives of their country in the west and able to convey the true image of the Arabs to the Americans.

Then, the delegation left Syria for Lebanon, and before Syria the delegation was in Jordan.
