Syrian premier confers with Turkish Justice Minister on bilateral relations

Syria's Premier Naji Otari Thursday received Turkish Justice Minister Cemil Cicek and an accompanying delegation.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the bilateral relations between Syria and Turkey and means of enhancing them in the economic, cultural and commercial fields.

Talks also focused on the latest developments in the region, and the importance of common coordination between the two countries as they have great regional impact in the region.

Present at the meeting were Justice Minister Nizar al-Assasi and the Turkish Ambassador in Damascus.

Earlier, Interior Minister Ali Hammoud and Turkish Justice Minister Thursday conferred on the cooperation and friendly relations between the two ministries, and means of enhancing them in all domains.

During the meeting, Hammoud said that the agreements and joint minutes previously signed with Turkish Interior Minister in Ankara aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two interior ministries, particularly in the field of combating crime, the organized crime, drugs smuggling and all acts which target security.

Hammoud referred to the deep historical ties between Syria and Turkey in the economic, cultural and tourist fields which have been enhanced after the visit of President Bashar al-Assad to Turkey.

Cicek, for his part, expressed relief over the progress of relations between Syria and Turkey, praising the great role of Syria in the region.

Earlier, a session of talks was held Thursday morning between the Syrian and Turkish ministries chaired by Syrian Justice Minister Nizar al-Assasi and his Turkish counterpart Cicek.

Talks during the session dealt with means of enhancing bilateral relations between both countries, particularly in the Judicial field through the exchange of expertise and facilitate investments from a legal point in the interest of the two countries.

Both sides stressed that enhancing and improving the bilateral cooperation reflect the will of the two political leaderships in strengthening the prospects of historical relations which link the two peoples. Cicek also expressed his country's will to develop and boost cooperation with Syria in all fields, especially in the judicial field.
