Maher: All Arab states agree on holding summit in Tunisia
Egypt-Tunisia, Politics, 5/13/2004

Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher affirmed Wednesday that Arab foreign ministers have agreed during their recent meeting in Cairo on the date of the Arab Summit, to be held in the Tunisian capital Tunis.

In statements to reporters, Maher reaffirmed that the summit would open on May 22.

"They have the right to evaluate whatever they want to evaluate, but all Arab foreign ministers have agreed on this date," Maher said in reply to a query about whether Tunisia wanted to evaluate the summit and announce its final position on Friday.

Maher phoned the foreign ministers of Bahrain and Zimbabwe on preparations for the rescheduled Arab summit and the latest Arab and African developments.

The telephone contact with Bahraini Foreign Minister Mohamed Bin Mubarak was part of continued consultations in this respect, Maher told diplomatic editors.
