Syrian authorities release Kurds detainees, according to a Kurdish source

News reports quoted the secretary general of the Kurdish progressive democratic party in Syria, Aziz Daoud, as saying on Wednesday that the Syrian authorities released ten Syrian Kurds on Tuesday who were detained on the background of al-Qamishli clashes which took place in March.
A statement by the party said that two of its members were among the ten released men. The statement added that the released persons are the first shift to be released after the announcement made by the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in an interview with the al-Jazeera on May 1st to that " no foreign hands were behind al-Qamishli incidents and that the Kurdish nationality is an integral part of the Syrian national fabrics and of the Syrian history."
The chairman of the Kurdish democratic progressive party considered that these statement won positive reaction among the Kurds who " are waiting a translation of these statements by releasing hundreds of Kurdish detainees and the return back of expelled students to their universities and institutes. "
Clashes erupted in March following reciprocated provocation for the supporters of two football teams in al-Qamishli- which includes the largest Kurdish gathering in Syria and resulted in killing 25 persons, according to Syrian official sources and 40 according to Kurdish sources.
