French spokeswoman rejects sanctions on Syria
Syria-France, Politics, 5/13/2004

The Assistant Spokesman of the French Foreign Ministry Cecile Di Borgo on Wednesday said her country rejected imposing US economic sanctions on Syria, stressing France's principled stance vis-a-vis this issue.

In a statement, Borgo said that "France rejects all measures of sanctions, this is a historical firm stance based on conviction that sanctions are not effective and create more difficulties in the region instead of overcoming them."
