Khatami and the Middle East Peace
Regional-Iran, Politics, 5/12/2004
President Mohammed Khatami of Iran stressed that the Middle East will not attain viable peace unless the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights through the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
In a press conference with Head of Bosnian Presidential Council, Sulejman Tihic, Khatami condemned Israeli aggressive and brutal practices against the Palestinians, criticizing the limitless support of the American administration to Israel which increase tension in the region.
Khatami called for the necessity of withdrawing all the occupation forces from Iraq and enabling the Iraqi people of practicing their self-determination, asserting that Iraq became a center of tension and chaos in which "we are witnessing one of the worst examples of suppression and violation of the human rights by the occupiers."
Khatami warned the occupiers that the occupation of Iraq would produce no results but more disorders and chaos.
