Saddam Hussein lawyers are worried about his health condition
Iraq, Politics, 5/11/2004

Lawyers of the former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein expressed their worries over the health condition of their client, following the scandal of abuse and torture of the Iraqi prisoners in Abu Ghreib prison.

One of the lawyer Muhammad al-Rashdan said "we are very concerned over his safety, on how is dealt with and how does he live." He added " torture is systematic in ( the American jails in Iraq ) and the occupation leaders know that. Therefore the matter is not entitling a group of soldiers." Al-Rashdan explained that Saddam's wife Sajida Tilfah, assigned him together with other 19 lawyers to defend the former President.

The French lawyer Emanuel Le Do, member of the defendant commission for Saddam, said he had sent a message to the occupation asking for permission to meet his client but he did not receive an answer it. Le Do refused yesterday trying Saddam Hussein before an Iraqi court.
