In conclusions of meetings of the Arab ministerial council in Cairo; The Arab summit is in Tunisia on may 22 and 23
Regional, Politics, 5/11/2004

The Arab foreign ministers yesterday concluded three- day meetings at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo by an agreement to convene the Arab summit in Tunisia on May 22 and 23.

The Tunisian foreign minister al-Habib Bin Yahya said in a joint press conference with the secretary general of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, that the agenda of the summit will be rich, noting that the draft resolutions which were agreed by the ministers will be submitted to the Arab leaders, but he did not disclose them.

For his part, Moussa indicated that the Cairo meeting ended in achievements at the level of amending the charter of the Arab League, stressing that the reforms in the Arab states will be an Arab one and is not linked to the American initiative on the Middle East.

He stressed that the issue of sending Arab forces to Iraq was not discussed in the meetings. The Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zeibari raised this issue, but due to the weak support to the matter by the Arab states, he did not officially debated it.

On the other hand, Moussa stressed that there is an Arab "unrest" over the " American bias of Israel," despite the message sent by the US President George W. Bush to the Jordanian King Abdullah in which he stressed that the US will not pre asses results of the final solution negotiations between the Palestinian authority and Israel.

Meantime, one Arab diplomat, attended Cairo meeting said that a sharp dispute erupted between the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the Jordanian foreign minister Marwan Muasher over including the final statement commandment of the American President George W. Bush's commitment to the roadmap in the message of assurance he had sent to the Jordanian King Abdullah, noting that al-Shara refused the inclusion of this statement.

He added that Muasher also asked al-Shara to tighten control on the Syrian- Iraqi borders following an increased American complaint of Damascus over not taking a serious position towards this issue. A matter which angered the Syrian minister.
