Jordan-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 5/11/2004
The Jordanian state security court stated yesterday the imprisonment of the chief editor of the Jordanian weekly al-Majd. He is of leftist inclination and his imprisonment was under the charge of troubling relations with Saudi Arabia.
The Jordanian news agency Petra said that the "state attorney general col. Muhannad Hijazi decided to hold the chief editor of al-Majd weekly Fahd al-Remawi in custody for 15 days for investigations under the charge of troubling relations with a sisterly Arab state." The agency added that the attorney general decided also to stop issuing the paper without disclosing the period of suspension.
On May 3rd, the paper published an article under the title " formulating policy by words of surrender" in which al-Remawi wrote an article about the book published by the American journalist Bob Woodward under the title " the attack plan" and accused Saudi princes of collaborating with the Americans against Iraq.
The article said " it is regrettable, rather disgusting the Saudi role disclosed recently by the renowned American journalist Bob Woodward."
