Qurei' announces readiness of the Palestinians for serious negotiations

The Palestinian prime minister Ahmad Qurei' said that the Palestinian national authority is ready to get involved in serious and sincere negotiations on the ground of international resolutions.
He added following a meeting for the government and the national security council head at the headquarters of the Presidency in Ramullah yesterday that risks resulting from Israel's attempts to debate new or old initiatives over unilateral withdrawal from Gaza.
He said that the Palestinian authority will ask the American administration and the so-called Quartet to define a date to hold presidential and legislative elections as soon as possible.
Meantime, Israeli political sources disclosed yesterday that the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon will announce a new plan for withdrawal from Gaza within three weeks. The spokesman for Sharon announced that the government will announce its position after that through voting.
In the military field, the Israeli occupation forces handed over to the Palestinians the body of Muhammad Sweilem Abu Haddaf ( 23 year old), one of the two Palestinian gunmen who attacked on Sunday several Jewish settlers at Kesovim crossing in the downtown of Gaza. Search is being made for the body of the second Palestinian armed man.
Al-Quds group, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement claimed responsibility for the attack which targeted a gathering for Israeli settlers. The statement gave no details about the numbers of the executors of the attack.
After Kisovim operations, the occupation forces demolished several houses in Abu Haddaf area to the east of al-Qarrar after forcing its citizens of evacuating them. Families inhabiting more than 30 houses received evacuation warning in order to demolish them.
On the other hand, a spokesman for the occupation army announced the detention of four Palestinians in the West Bank from Fatah and Hamas movements under the charge of taking part in operations against Israeli targets or planning for them.
