Pressures on al-Ibraheimi to appoint a political government
Iraq-USA, Politics, 5/10/2004

American media sources said that the administration of the US President George W. Bush is putting pressure on the UN envoy in Iraq al-Akhdar al-Ibraheimi in order to amend his plan concerning the next Interim government in Iraq.

The sources indicated that the amendment states giving roles to persons linked to political parties instead of forming a government which has no future political ambitions.

The new move reflects doubts by the side of the US to that a technocrat Interim government will not be strong enough to run the state.

The sources stressed that remarkable political figures including Kurds and Shiite pressured for making the change because of its interests to stay in the authority after desolving the Iraqi governing council.
