Al-Ibraheimi arrives in Baghdad
Iraq-UN, Politics, 5/7/2004
The UN special envoy to Iraq, al-Akhader al-Ibraheimi, arrived in Baghdad yesterday to continue his consultations to form a provisional government that will assume the authority on June 30.
The UN Security Council started yesterday unofficial talks on issuing a new decision supporting the formation of a new Iraqi provisional government and the situation of the American occupation forces after handing over the authority officially on June 30.
Diplomatic sources in New York said that the text of the draft resolution will not be distributed in the session which was called on by Britain, only after receiving al-Ibraheimi report on his efforts to form a provisional Iraqi government, and therefore it is ruled out to vote a draft resolution prepared by Washington and London before June.
