Syria bans four Israeli ship and 9 companies
Syria-Israel, Politics, 5/6/2004
Syria has banned anchoring four ships from Greece, Denmark and Malta in its ports because of their dealing with the Israeli ports, and listed names of nine Israeli companies on the boycotting list, according to a statement by the Syrian ministry of the economy.
However, it seems that the decisions of the Syrian ministry are in compliance with the recommendations taken by the Arab boycott bureau of Israel, of which some Arab states had escaped.
The chairman of the Arab boycott office Muhammad al-Ajami said that the Greek " Aguis Sperdonk," the Danish " Pauma," the Maltese " Orioni" and MedPower" were put on the black list over their violations of the Arab boycott decisions of Israel.
In a routine measure, nine Israeli companies were added to the boycott list. A plan which is often taken as far as the Israeli ownership of a certain company is proved.
The Syrian ministry also lifted the banning from two ships. One for Northern Korea " Shahira" and the Italian " Vavo La" after the owners handed over necessary documents confirming they have not anchored again in the Israeli ports.
