American army admits deaths, some because of torture in its detention centers

One official in the American army said yesterday that investigations started since December 2003 on 35 torture and abuse cases in American detention centers in Iraq and Afghanistan including 25 deaths cases.

Gen. Donald Radier, the officer in charge of implementing criminal sanctions in the army said that the deaths include two killing cases against two detainees at the hands of American soldiers and the killing of one detainee as he was trying to escape. Ten deaths cases still under investigations. He added that the reasons of other 12 deaths cases reasons are still unknown.
