Damascus: a car dismantled over suspects of being booby trapped
Syria, Local, 5/4/2004

Witnesses said yesterday that the security forces dismantled a car bearing Saudi plate in the downtown of Damascus over suspicion that it is booby trapped, but nothing was found inside.

The witnesses said that security men came to the area since yesterday early morning and imposed a security siege around the car in front of " Burj al-Mustaqbal" situated at the very crowded al-Thawra street entrance.

The witnesses said that the suspected car is a pick up, Toyota, yellow blue and is of a Saudi plate. Owner of one of the neighboring shops to the hotel said that the security experts found in the car unfamiliar items. However, well informed Syrian sources close to the authority said that the car "was suspected and then dismantled but nothing was found in it and returned back to its owner."
