Egypt, Sudan work to achieve food security in coming ten years

Sudanese Minister of Agriculture Magzoub al-Klalifa, who leads Sudan's delegation to the Egyptian-Sudanese Joint Higher Committee, highlighted necessity to enhance cooperation and integration between the two countries.

He told AI-Ahram that there are a host of projects that help boost integration between the two countries including the currently being established roads, noting that studies are underway to establish electric connection between Egypt and Sudan.

On the agricultural landscape, he said that the Egyptian scientists are helping develop agriculture in Sudan, stressing that the Egyptian education mission will open 10 schools in Sudan soon as well as resuming the study in Cairo University branch in Khartoum.

He pointed out that the two countries are to set a ten-year plan on food security and trade, economic and cultural cooperation, noting that these efforts will be crowned with signing agreements on freedom of movement, residence, possession and labor in the two countries.

He voiced hope that the current efforts will result in devising an investment system for enhancing trade and commodity exchange that stood at $110 million.
