Al-Zarqawi denies the Jordanian version over the chemical attack
Jordan, Local, 5/1/2004
The Jordanian Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi -- suspected to be member in al-Qaida organization -- accused in a tape the Jordanian government of "lying" in its version on foiling a destructive chemical attacks, but he confirmed he had planned to carry out an attack against Jordanian intelligence circles.
Al-Zarqawi accused in the tape displayed at an Islamic website on the Internet the Jordanian authorities of lying and confiscating "false" admissions from the detainees by torturing them, noting that traces of tortures were on the face and hands of the leader of the group Azmi al-Jayusi.
The Jordanian authorities announced earlier this month that it arrested several persons described to be terrorists admitted via the official TV of planning to launch chemical attacks that will be conducive, if implemented, to killing almost 80,000 persons.
Al-Zarqawi explained in a tape recording that what was stated by the Jordanian authorities of "imaginative figures" and the existence of a chemical bomb might kill thousands of people is just lies, adding that the chemical bomb is a just fabrication by the Jordanian security.
He said that the tons of materials seized by the Jordanian authorities are just raw materials sold in the markets.
The Jordanian judiciary sentenced al-Zarqawi -- his actual name is Abdul Razzaq al-Khaleylah -- to death over accusing him of playing the role in the death of an American diplomat in Amman two years ago.
