Court in Bahrain decided to compensate the family of a young man killed in a demonstration

One court in Bahrain stated yesterday to obligate the ministry of the interior in Bahrain to compensate a family of a young Bahraini who died after he was hit by a rubber bullet in a demonstration in front of the American embassy in al-Manama two years ago.
Lawyer Muhammad Ahmad said that the third civilian court decided that the ministry of the interior should pay a sum of 35,000 Bahraini Dinars to the family of Muhammad Juma al-Shakhouri who died because of he was hit by a rubber bullet in the demonstration which included thousands of Bahraini.
The lawyer explained that this sum is considered a compensation for life. The court also sentenced the ministry to pay 5,000 Bahraini dinars to each of the father and the mother of al-Shakhouri. The lawyer added that by this sentence the court hold the country's responsibility for the acts performed by its employees, noting that this is the first time in which a Bahraini court takes such a decision.
