Syrian Official Source on Statement on Mezze incident

Syrian Interior Ministry official sources stated to SANA reporter that an armed group consisted of four attackers set off on Tuesday 4/27/2004 an explosive charge under a stationed car in Mezza district in Damascus.

The official source added that the explosive charge was blasted causing a material losses in a deserted building.

Components of the security forces and police confronted the terrorist group and besieged them and exchanged with them gunfire, where the component of the terrorist group run away by an another car, throwing hand grenades at the security forces.

Two of the terrorists were killed and the others injured due to exchanging gunfire with the security forces.

" The Syrian Arab Republic which has confronted all forms of terrorism for more than 25 years, condemns the terrorist incident which targets the stability and security of the citizen and homeland," the source added.

Syria stressed firm stance in facing such terrorist act that aimed at spreading chaos, instability and insecurity, the matter that necessitates taking all usual, exceptional and necessary measures in facing such conditions to save the security and stability of the citizens.

In this regard, the source underlined that the state of instability and chaos that the region is witnessing in the political and security fields creates a provocative climate for such criminal acts, which threaten security and stability of the region.

The security and legal measures to divulge the circumstances of this condemned terrorist act is going on.
