Khartoum opens secret channels with one Darfour rebel group

The official in charge of the negotiations file with the rebels in Darfour, al-Haj Ata al-Mannan Idris, has disclosed that the Sudanese government made secret negotiations in Paris with representatives of ( justice and equality) movement, one of the two groups who lead an armed conflict against the government in Darfour.

Ata al-Mannan said that the negotiations which were held on March 24 to 28 under the auspices of one Sudanese businessman resulted in an agreement between the two sides to keep this in secret until the end of the last round of negotiations between the two sides in Anjamina.

The statement states, according to Ata al-Mannan in a press conference yesterday, the agreement of the two sides to rule out the use of weapons and embark on dialogue as a way to solve the problem in Darfour.

Ata al-Mannan who earlier had the post of governor of Darfour south said that the pace of the American pressures has been recently increased greatly on the government and this resulted in embarrassing its negotiating delegation
