Lahoud meets Karrubi on developments
Lebanon-Iran, Politics, 4/22/2004

Lebanon's President Emil Lahoud asserted that the American President's stance of denying the Palestinian people's "right to return" violated all UN's relevant resolutions.

During a meeting with Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Shura Majlis, Mahdi Karrubi, Lahoud underlined that Bush violated all international laws and gave Israel a pretext to go too far in the extermination war against the Palestinian people and in directing threats against Syria and Lebanon.

He asserted the importance of the Syrian-Lebanese- Iranian coordination to face the current stage.

He asserted that the implementation of the international resolutions regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict ensures just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

For his part, Karrubi said that the current stage requires unity and cooperation among the states of the region, particularly among Syria, Lebanon and Iran.

He also underlined the Palestinian people's right to return, asserting support to Iraq's unity, independence and sovereignty.

Earlier in the day, Karrubi on Wednesday left Damascus to Beirut ending a 3-day visit to Syria.

In a statement before leaving Damascus, Karrubi described his visit to Syria as a successful due to the deep-rooted relations between the two friendly countries.

He added that his visit achieved more developments in the relations between Syria and Iran, particularly in the Parliamentary field. For his part, al-Abrash asserted the deep-rooted relations between both countries.
