Information Minister confers with Anglican church official
Syria-Netherlands, Politics, 4/22/2004

Syria's Information Minister Ahmad al-Hasan on Wednesday received the Official of the Middle East Department at the Anglican Churches' Groups Body in the Netherlands, George Haghzma.

Talks during the Meeting dealt with a number of political issues and the latest developments in the Arab region, and the necessity of dialogue in enhancing the ties and contacts among religions.

The minister focused on the importance of the assistants which the international institutions offer in the developing countries to help them achieve an economic and social stability.

He added that Syria is considered a distinguished example of the national unity and tolerance.

Haghzma, for his part, talked about the role of the Anglican group in achieving the human rapprochement among nations rejecting extremism and terrorism, stressing the importance of the ties between the group and churches in Syria and the Arab states.
