Study to abolish emergency law

Egypt's National Council for Human Rights (NCBR) Legislative Committee holds a meeting today to discuss a draft project on the abolition of emergency law and prepares a study on the other alternatives including enactment of a law allowing Egypt's President to declare state of emergency.
The committee will also probe introducing amendment to the penal code and procedures law. The committee is expected to prepare the draft project before referring it to the NCHR on April 28.
