Morocco to reinforce legal protection of its expatriates, minister

Moroccan minister-delegate in charge of the Moroccan community abroad, Nezha Chekrouni, said the government is planning to reinforce the legal protection of Moroccans settled abroad.

Answering a question by MPs on the surge of assaults against Moroccan expatriates in host countries, The official said her department has set up a permanent cell to follow these assaults, mainly in Spain, following the terrorist attacks last March 11 against train stations in Madrid. A contingency cell was also set up at the Moroccan embassy in Madrid and in consulates to assist victims of assaults.
