Human rights deterioration in al-Maghreb region, the Middle East

The Human rights Monitoring Watch considered that the situation in al-Maghreb and the Middle East region provokes great concern following the interference in Iraq and the escalation of the Palestinian- Israeli conflict.

The annual report which was circulated to the press at the headquarters of the Tunisian league for human rights said that " the International community has not been to that extent of tolerance with human rights violations of these countries of the region." The Monitoring Watch which was established by the International federation for human rights and the world organization for fighting torture said that "certain countries which continued to reject any contrary views," in remarks to Libya, while other countries continued to pursue the policy of repression." The honorary President of the Tunisian human rights league Mukhtar al-Tureifi announced that preventing the Tunisian authorities of the honorary President of the International federation of human rights Patrick Bodwan from taking part in reviewing the report prepared by the monitoring Watch proves the " reality of obstacles human rights defenders face."

This reports highlights scores of repression cases in al-Maghreb and the Middle East region especially in Algeria, Egypt, Israel, the Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria and Tunisia.
