Cairo hosts Arab Water Conference
Regional-Egypt, Politics, 4/14/2004

Egyptian Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Ahmad Abu Zaid called for boosting Arab cooperation in the field of water and irrigation, and for increasing the information and expertise exchange in a way to contribute to resolving the problems of water in the Arab states.

In a speech to the Second Regional Conference of Arab water on Tuesday, Abu Zaid stressed that the dangerous point in the problem of water in the Arab states is that all Arab water resources are outside the border of Arab nation.

The Secretary-General of Arab Economic Union Council Ahmad Joweli, for his part, indicated that this conference comes during a time when the region is facing increasingly dangers in the field of water and food security, calling for an Arab effective action in order to provide the basic necessities in Arab states.
