Moroccans demonstrate against coalition's operations in Iraq

A demostration was staged Friday in Rabat before the United Nations representation to condemn the coalition's military operations in Iraq.

Demonstrators called on the international community to act immediately to halt the "massacres" perpetrated by the coalition forces against Iraqi civilians in different regions of Iraq.

Abderrahman Benamar, member of the Moroccan human rights association (ADMH), told MAP this demo, which coincides with the anniversary of the fall of Baghdad, aims to express the Moroccan people's solidarity with the Iraqi people in his fight for independence.

Benamar denounced the "bloodshed" against Iraqi civilians, recalling that clashes between the US army and Iraqi groups in Falluja have left over 400 dead and 1,000 injured.

Several associations representing the Moroccan civil society took part in these demonstration that was organized by the national group for the support of Palestine and Iraq.
