White House officially announces Feltman as an Ambassador to Lebanon

The US President George W. Bush announced officially his decision to appoint the diplomat Jeffery Feltman as the US new ambassador to Lebanon. This was, however, in the context of sending five names of new ambassadors to the Senate to ratify them. Feltman, who is in Baghdad since 6 months, will succeed ambassador Vincent Battle who will retire in August this year.
Before heading for Baghdad, Feltman, from Ohio, served the post of the main deputy for the general consul in Jerualem. He also seved before that in the American embassy in Israel ( 1995- 1998), when Martin Indyk served as the American ambassador there. Feltman also served in Tunisia between 1998 and 2000 as an official responsible for the economic and political afairs. He is expected to return back to Washington within one month to prepare for his testimony in the Congress.
