Moroccan 9/11 suspect to be retried on june 16
Morocco-Germany, Local, 4/8/2004

The only September 11 convict, Moroccan Mounir El Motassadeq, will be tried again on June 16 after the German court of Hamburg ordered his release Wednesday, legal sources said.

The only 9/11 convict has been serving a 15-year prison term in a Hamburg prison since he was found guilty in February 2003 of giving logistical help to an al-Qaida cell.

Early march, the supreme federal court of Karlushe deemed that he was denied a fair trial and that his right for defence was not respected.

The thirty-year old Moroccan who arrived in 1993 in Hamburg to study electronic engineering has always denied involvement in the preparation of the attacks.

After his release, El Motassadeq will have to report to local police twice a week, and will not be allowed to leave the city of Hamburg.

Another Moroccan Abdelghani Mzoudi, who was sued for the same charges, was acquitted last February.
