Independent: Saddam Hussein is in Qatar
Iraq-Qatar, Politics, 4/8/2004

The British daily the "Independent" said yesterday that the toppled Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is held in an American base in Qatar, rather than in Iraq.

The paper did not attribute these information to any source.

The American forces detained Saddam in December 2003, took him in the first phase to an American plane carrier anchored in the waters of the Gulf for interrogation and transported him, according to the paper, at a high speed to Qatar.

Due to the bloody clashes in Iraq, " the Independent " said that Qatar is considered a more secure venue to keep the toppled President under detention.
