Sudan's two conflicting sides to sign an agreement on Saturday in Kenya
Sudan, Politics, 4/8/2004

The spokesman for the people's movement for the liberation of Sudan, Yasser Araman, said that his government will sign with the Sudanese government an agreement on sharing the authority and administrating three areas under disputes in a date not to exceed next Saturday in Kenya, and thereby the two sides to end the longest round of negotiations aiming at ending 20 years of civil war in Sudan.

This, however, comes at a time the US on Tuesday asked the Sudanese government and the southern rebels to finalize a peace agreement by the end of the week; describing the talks which will be held this week between Khartoum and the southern rebels as decisive to end the civil war continued since 20 years.

The US Department Of State said that the Secretary of State Colin Powell telephoned personally with the Sudanese Vice President, Ali Othman Taha, and the commander of the people's army for the liberation of Sudan, John Garang, and asked them to speed up the finalization of peace negotiations.
