Lahoud confers with Syrian minister

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud stressed media's role in approaching the raised issues realistically, frankly and objectively, calling for developing an Arab media plan to "refute allegations circulated by Zionist - influenced media."

During a meeting with Information Minister Ahmad al-Hasan on Wednesday, Lahoud said that boosting the joint Arab action constitutes a basic factor in the confrontation of threats and pressures the Arab states are exposed to. He stressed the necessity of taking all necessary measures to enable the Arab voice to reach world public opinion objectively.

He praised the Syrian-Lebanese media coordination describing the cooperation agreement recently signed between the two Information ministries as a complementary step to the other agreements in the framework of the fraternity, coordination and cooperation Accord.

Hasan, for his part, stressed the importance of the cooperation in the media field on the regional and international levels.

He added that the coordination between the information ministries helped Syria and Lebanon explain and enlighten the stances of both countries vis-a-vis the regional and international developments.
