Chirac receives Khaddam: Great concern over the deterioration of condition in Iraq
Syria-France, Politics, 4/7/2004
The French President Jacque Chirac expressed during his meeting with the Syrian Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam at the Elysee palace "great concern" towards the "deteriorated conditions in Iraq."
The situation in Iraq was the essence of talks which lasted for one hour between Chirac and Khaddam. Khaddam has not made statement when he was out of the Elysee and confined to saying to journalists that he had talked " about every thing" with the French President.
The Elysee palace explained that Chirac "considers the deterioration of the situation as a source of great concern. A matter which supports his conviction on the need to do every possible to hand over the authority to the Iraqis by June 30," so as a genuine change will be made.
