Sheikh Sabah warns against sectarianism: if it flares up, it will burn all of us
Kuwait-Regional, Politics, 4/6/2004

Kuwait's prime minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah has warned against the spread of sectarianism in the country. He said that if sedition flares up it will then burn all of us.

Following a session for the Kuwaiti nation's council ( Parliament) yesterday replying to questions by journalists on preventing any attempt to raise sectarianism, al-Sabah expressed his regret that there are certain elements which he said "are trying to provoke sectarianism in the country," stressing that if sedition "appears and flares up it will burn all of us and burn our country."

The Kuwaiti Ummah council yesterday held a session in which it discussed a project to amend the elections law in a move which was described by parliamentarians as "the first step towards the political reform." Worthy mentioning that Sheikh Sabah held several days ago meetings with religious and political groups in Kuwait representing the Sunni and Shiite sects during which he stressed national unity and giving up sectarianism.
