American forces intensify their operations to detain al-Sader
Iraq-USA, Politics, 4/6/2004

The American president George W. Bush has stressed he will not permit the Shiite leader Muqtada al- Sader to resort to force in withstanding the current democratic process in Iraq.

Bush said during his visit to Charlotte in Northern Carolina "instead of letting democracy flourish, ( al-Sader ) wants to resort to power and this is what we can not permit." Bush said "this person and his followers want to say they will decided the process of democracy by resorting to force.. This is a violation to democracy."

Bush was commenting before journalists on the warrant of arrest issued against al-Sader in the course of investigation of the Shiite religious leader Abdul Majid al-Khowa' one year ago. In the same context the occupation authorities in Iraq disclosed yesterday a warrant of arrest against Muqtada al-Sader under the charge of assassinating Abdul Majid al- Khowai'.

Meantime, hundreds of American soldiers and Iraqi security men equipped with armored vehicles and tanks cordoned al-Falouja yesterday in preparations for a large military operation, one week following the killing of four American security civilian guards in the city and mutilating their bodies.

The American army announced the killing of one Marine soldier in the battle yesterday in the same area which is located in al-Anbar governorate. The army announced that another soldier was killed in a bomb explosion near al-Musil in northern Iraq while a third died and other 6 injured in a bomb explosion on Sunday while his car was running near a police school in Karkouk.

Leaders of the American army, following the killing of the four Americans last Wednesday, announced their determination to launch the large operation to detain all those who took part in attack. American officers said on Saturday that the American army is preparing a list in the name of those after they were identified through video tapes depicted by TV stations.

A high ranking American officer said that 1200 marines and two contingents from the Iraqi security forces were preparing yesterday to enter the city in order to detain those suspected of carrying out Wednesday's operation. He explained "the city is besieged. it is a vast operation.. we are searching for the devils in the city." He added "those persons are targeted in particular, and they will be killed or detained."
