American institute for opening dialogue with Syria
Syria-USA, Politics, 4/5/2004

The American Institute for Political Studies called the American administration to return to the open and constructive dialogue with Syria.

The Institute called on Washington to change its policies which was based on imposing sanctions on Syria and isolating it, stressing that Syria is a pivotal country for the peace process in the Middle East.

In a report issued in Washington and published Sunday by Lebanese newspaper " Al-Nahar," the institute described the so-called "Syria Accountability Act" as a step backward. It said the Bush administration attempted to tighten the pressure on Syria during the year of the presidential elections, hoping to derail attention from its failed policy in Iraq.

The report also asserted there is no decisive evidences for the accusations against Syria regarding the alleged mass destruction weapons, emphasizing that it is not credible that Syria facilitates the crossing of foreigners into Iraq.
