Moroccan FM holds talks with US arms control official
Morocco-USA, Politics, 4/3/2004

Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohammed Benaissa, held talks in Rabat Friday with Jackie Sanders, President Bush's special representative for the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Talks touched on the upcoming meeting to be held in New York on the treaty of the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and on disarmament in the world, Sanders told the press after the meeting.

On his part, Benaissa said Morocco has always called for peace, security and stability in the world and has always fought the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), warning of the commercialisation of these weapons "that may be used for terrorist aims."

This meeting is part of Morocco's cooperation with several countries to fight WMD proliferation in the world and encourage the use of nuclear power for peaceful aims as it is the case in many countries, he said.
