Morocco, Turkey to sign free trade Agreement next week
Morocco-Turkey, Economics, 4/3/2004
Morocco and Turkey will sign next week in Ankara a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) during the 8th session of the Moroccan-Turkish economic joint commission, Turkish exterior trade minister announced Friday.
The FTA provides for the creation of a free trade zone in the sector of industry after a 10-year transition period and the lifting of all customs tariffs for Moroccan industrial products, while Turkish products would benefit from a gradual exemption of these tariffs.
The Turkish minister will co-chair with his Moroccan peer, Mustapha Mechahouri, the works of the joint commission that will be held this April 5-8.
The progress achieved in cooperation between Morocco and Turkey and prospects to promote bilateral relations top the agenda of the 8th session.
The two officials will also chair the works of the Moroccan-Turkish business council that will be held on April 8 in Istanbul. Over 40 Moroccan companies operating in key sectors in the Moroccan economy will attend the meeting.
