News on resuming dialogue in Gaza next week, calls on the Palestinians to evacuate
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 4/2/2004

One official in Hamas movement announced that the Palestinian national dialogue will be resumed in Gaza next week, while one Israeli plane dropped publications over Gaza calling on the Palestinians to leave.

The Palestinian " al-Hayat al-Jadida" ( New life) quoted the leading figure in Hamas in Gaza Sheikh Saeed Seyam as saying that the movement ended the drawing of a document prepared and formulated by the late founder of the movement Sheikh Ahmad Yassin including the movement's perception on how Gaza can be ruled when the occupation forces withdraw from it.

Seyam added that the dialogue between the Palestinian and Islamic groups will be resumed next week in Gaza in order to come up with a joint stand to withstand challenges and risks. He said that the dialogue will concentrate on the issue of forming a united leadership.

However, the last round of inter- Palestinian dialogue stopped in Gaza after the occupation forces assassinated Sheikh Yassin in March.

Meantime, the Israeli forces besieged a mental health hospital in Bethlehem where clashes took place between them and Palestinian resistance fighters and ended in detaining them with several of the hospital's employees.

Palestinian security sources said that Israeli soldiers detained 12 Palestinians including 8 wanted from al-Aqsa group of the Fatah movement including its local leader for Bethlehem area, Jamal Hamamera, who is accused of planning for a suicide operation in Jerusalem on January 29th. The sources continued that the other four Palestinians are from the hospital's employees, noting that 12 Israeli armored vehicle cordoned the building. A spokesman for the Israeli army said that a fire exchanged lasted for one hour between the Palestinians and the soldiers but resulted in wounding Palestinians after which the resistance men surrendered.

On the other hand, in recent days unsigned paper clips were circulated in Hebron calling on the Palestinians for voluntary evacuation from the "land of Israel." Witnesses said that a small plane dropped these paper clips over the city. The clips which were written in Arabic included views of the extremist Israeli right stressing that "it was written in the Torah, this small land, is the property of the Jewish people only and others excluding them are banned from staying in it permanently." It added " we demand you to leave the land of Israel."

The paper clips added that the "Palestinians have vast countries that they can stay in," in remarks to the Arab states. Worthy mentioning that some 500 Israeli settlers, including the most extremist, are living in Hebron among 140,000 Palestinians.
