Saudi Arabia's authorities yesterday releaed the Saudi reformer Muhammad Saeed al-Tayeb. His wife Faeqa Bader said in a telephone call from Jeddah "they released him and he returned back home since one hour."

The Interim Iraqi governing council yesterday notified the UN that the UN will have no role in running the next Iraqi elections. It expressed its desire that the neighboring states will have no role in these elections, simultaneously it announced the formation of a committee assuming authority transfer on June 30 at a time the Shiite clergy Ali al-Seistani called for guarantees that these elections will be held in due time.
